              Tattoos have been around since the dawn of civilization, however only in the last century were they actually somewhat accepted into the mainstream of Western culture.

         Today they are fairly common in many societies, and in some places there are probably more people with tattoos than without.

          Now that more people are getting tattoos for all sorts of reasons, some even collect them; similarly to other trophy items such as baseball cards, or hockey jerseys.

         The popularity of the tattoo has begun to symbolize a lifestyle, as many people spend more and more hours in tattoo shops and idolizing their favourite artists.
